General access & login

I clicked the Log In button on the group page, but nothing happens.

This may be due to your browser showing an outdated version of the page. Try refreshing the page. If the issue continues, try using a different browser or device, or clear your browser’s cache and cookies. If that doesn’t work, please contact your course lead or email us at brainsafe@headforchange.org.uk.

I haven’t received my welcome or login email.

Please check your spam or junk folder. If it’s not there, your school’s email filters may have blocked it. Contact your course lead or email us at brainsafe@headforchange.org.uk and we’ll manually send your details.

Why did I get logged out while using the course?

For security reasons, users may be logged out after a period of inactivity. If this happens during your session, simply log back in to continue where you left off. We recommend keeping your browser tab active while working through the course. Additionally, we recommend logging off at the end of your session so other people can’t access your work.

Students & course access

I’ve logged in but I can’t see the course.

Once you’ve enrolled in the course, you’ll be directed to an introduction page that explains the format of the course and introduces the characters you’ll meet along the way. Scroll down to the bottom of that page and you’ll be able to access the course content. If that doesn’t work, please contact your course lead or email us at brainsafe@headforchange.org.uk.

Do I need to complete the course in one sitting?

No, you can log out and return at any time. Your progress will be saved, and you can pick up where you left off.

Can I access the course on my phone or tablet?

Yes! The course works on most modern browsers and mobile devices. We recommend using Chrome or Safari for the best experience.

Course leads & group leaders

How do I add students to my group?

Students are automatically added to your group once they enrol on your school or club group landing page. If you’ve lost the link to your group page, email us at brainsafe@headforchange.org.uk and we’ll manually send your details.

One of my students can’t log in - what should I do?

First, check that they’re using the correct password and email address. After they enrolled the first time, they will have received from Head for Change with all their details – ask them to search their inbox for an email titled ‘You have registered to Head for Change’. If they’re still having trouble, try resetting their password here or contact us for help by emailing brainsafe@headforchange.org.uk.

Can I see which students have completed the course?

Yes. We’ll send you a report with an overview of everyone’s progress and who’s completed the course. We’ll do this regularly but you can also email us brainsafe@headforchange.org.uk for the most recent report.

Technical troubleshooting

The course pages aren’t loading properly.

Try refreshing the page or switching to a different browser (Chrome or Safari usually work best) or clear your browser’s cache and cookies, as saved data can sometimes cause issues. If you’re using a school network, ask your IT team if any filters are blocking parts of the site. If that doesn’t work, please email us at brainsafe@headforchange.org.uk.

The videos won’t play.

This is often a browser or network issue. Make sure your internet connection is stable, try disabling browser extensions, or use a different device if needed.

I finished the course but my quiz says incomplete.

You may not have clicked “Mark Complete” at the end of a topic. Go back and make sure you’ve clicked all “Mark Complete” buttons before trying the final quiz again.

Certificates & completion

Will I receive a certificate at the end?

Yes. Once you complete all course sections and pass the final quiz, your certificate will be automatically available for download.

Where can I find my certificate?

After completing the course, your certificate will appear on your account dashboard or the final screen of the course. You can also log back in at any time to download it again.

Students & course access

I find reading challenging, can I listen to the content instead?

 Yes, all you have to do is click on the “Listen to this topic” button at the beginning of each topic.

I’m listening to the topic, but this overlaps with the character videos when I play them. How can I stop this?

Simply press pause on the audio bar below the “Listen to this topic” button before playing the character video. Once you’ve finished the video, you can go back to the top and press play again to continue listening.

At the end of the character videos, if I click on the screen it takes me into a random YouTube video, how do I get back to the course?

Click on the BrainSafe brain logo at the top of the screen and this will take you straight back to the course.

I failed the quiz. How do I have another go and get onto the next topic?

Click the “Restart Quiz” button to try again. You can retake the quiz as many times as you like. If you’re finding it difficult, click the “View Questions” button to see which answers you got right or wrong. The correct answers will also be shown, so you can note them down before restarting the quiz.

Can I skip topics?

No, you can’t as they are designed to be done in order so you build on the knowledge you learned in the previous topics.
