Gareth Ffowcs Williams – Head for Change Community Hero

Sport, especially Rugby, Cricket and Cycling, has been a constant in my life. The part Rugby especially has played in my life is not to be underestimated. It didn’t just keep me fit physically but mentally helped me learn so many lessons about winning and losing, overcoming setbacks, and how it felt to be rewarded, or not, for your efforts. In rugby I created friendships that have lasted far longer than my playing career and it opened doors I couldn’t possibly have imagined.

Now I run a cycling business, sport is still a huge driver in my life, even when I’m not taking part myself!

By being involved and championing the vital work that Head for Change are doing, it gives me a chance to give back, not only to those players who have provided so much entertainment and joy over the years, but also to the next generation of athletes coming through in the hope that they grow to love their chosen sports without taking unnecessary risks.
