Head for Change celebrates another successful year of the Big Rugby Swim!

The Big Rugby Swim returned for the third year in a row. On Saturday, 13th September, over 40 swimmers took to the water to raise funds for our support and education services, helping us pioneer positive change for brain health in sport.
The atmosphere on the day was electric with a good mix of swimmers taking part. This year, we were joined by rugby legends, keen supporters, and young triathletes. This opened up a new audience to the Big Rugby Swim and proved a great opportunity to spread the word about our BrainSafe education programme.
To date, the Big Rugby Swim has raised over £2,000, but there’s still plenty of time to donate and show your support. The money will go towards our BrainSafe and Care & Support programmes, which are more important than ever, as we’re hearing from more players who are struggling and need our support.
Our Co-Founder, Alix Popham, said of the day:
When we first arrived, it was bucketing down and I thought it would be a long (and hard!) afternoon. From nowhere, blue skies broke and rainbows came out, and it stayed like that for the whole afternoon. It meant the swimmers were wet, but the supporters stayed nice and dry and could make lots of noise from the bank. That’s a moment I’ll always remember!
A huge thank you to Marc Batten for speaking in support of Head for Change on the day
