We’re pleased to announce the appointment of Warwick Clews as our Chief Executive Officer, stepping into the role after serving as a trustee of the charity.

Warwick brings both professional leadership and personal experience to the position. His connection to the charity’s mission stems from his own family’s experience of traumatic brain injury.

I’m incredibly proud to be stepping up from trustee to CEO of Head for Change. This is a charity that’s very personal to me. My son was a professional rugby player but had to retire due to concussion, so I understand first-hand the realities of living with traumatic brain injury and its impact on families.

As CEO, Warwick will lead Head for Change through our next phase of growth, focusing on three key priorities for the year ahead.

Support for ex-players and their families

We will continue to expand our care and support programmes for ex-players living with the effects of traumatic brain injury and their families. This includes access to resources, guidance, and community support.

Expanding our free BrainSafe education programme

We will expand BrainSafe, our free education programme designed to make sport safer for future athletes. By working with schools, clubs and communities, we are increasing awareness and promoting safer sports practices.

Promoting independent research

A continued commitment to independent research will help us build a deeper understanding of traumatic brain injury and its long-term impact, contributing to better outcomes for those affected and informing future change.

Warwick’s appointment marks an important step forward for Head for Change as we continue our work to support players and families, champion education and promote independent research.
