The Tom Morris Celebration Bike Ride

14 March 2025

The very special ‘Tom Morris Celebration Ride’ took place on Friday, 14th March 2025.

We chose to celebrate Tom’s life by fundraising for two special causes.

Tom was an avid Gloucester Rugby supporter so riders and supporters gathered at Gloucester Rugby Club on a sunny morning for photos and interviews before setting off on their journey.

There was a stop in Chepstow for lunch before they gently rolled into Cardiff (it happened to be very gentle due to the sheer traffic that was created before the Six Nations match between Wales and England the next day!)

Tom was a key member of Progressive Rugby and was dedicated in making it into what it is today.

He was integral in helping us start Head for Change’s education programme before he passed away from a short illness in December last year.

Tom cared deeply about the game of rugby and worked tirelessly to help protect players from brain injuries.

Since his passing, the love and respect for Tom has been evident and he has been described by many as the glue that held everyone together.

We all miss him hugely and we didn’t doubt the extraordinary support would be forthcoming to help Head For Change and Progressive Rugby continue to remember the amazing man Tom Morris was and to celebrate his life.

All funds raised will be split between Head for Change and the Hospice that cared for Tom in his final days.
